It all started at 1 p.m. when the raw-voiced rocker Nikki Hill took the main arena by storm as Sonny Knight & The Lakers launched into a testifyin’ soul revue not unlike the great James Brown and the JB Horns.
Both artists pulled out all the stops, Hill by the sheer power of her vocals, stage presence and a tight, potent band, Knight with a crowd-pleasing set of soul and blues tunes backed by that great horn section.
