What a crazy weekend

Man, we’ve been crazy busy. Last weekend we hit the studio to track Sonny’s debut LP. We played at First Ave Sunday night and then spent Monday and Tuesday filming a short documentary. The rest of the week was spent catching up on things at Secret Stash.

We spent Friday evening getting drum sounds.  We actually ended up using more mics than usual, but they’re still summed down to one channel coming into the board.  We got off to a little bit of late start on Saturday, but it didn’t stop us from cranking out a handful keepers.  We got back at it Sunday afternoon and put down a couple more keepers.

Spending most of the weekend in our subterranean studio got to be a bit taxing.  We packed up a little earlier than planned and headed over to First Ave to perform our version of Day Tripper at the 34th annual John Lennon Tribute (presented in conjunction with the MN Beatle Project).  In an effort to unwind a bit, we grabbed a couple beers and some great bar food from the Depot before taking the stage.  We had a blast sharing the Main Room stage with The Cactus Blossoms, Curtiss A, and The Suburbs.

On Monday we got back together to track some new material.  We were joined by the crew of TPT’s MN Original.  They came back one Tuesday to shoot some B Roll and do a few interviews.  Can’t wait to see the finished piece.
